VanDam Holds Off Horton at Kentucky Lake
The final day of the Bassmaster Elite Bluegrass Brawl on Kentucky Lake was billed as “The Greatest There Was vs. The Greatest There Is” or “Rick Clunn vs. Kevin VanDam.” But as it turned out, that shootout never materialized. Instead, VanDam faltered, Clunn stumbled, and Timmy Horton seemingly came out of nowhere to pass Rick and challenge Kevin.
In the end, VanDam had enough for the victory, but Horton had a great time making him sweat it out. We’ll hear from both of them in this episode.
Dropshotting Is Easy With Good Electronics
By Tom Branch, Jr.
Drop-Shotting has been proclaimed as one of the hottest “new” techniques around, but it has been around since the mid 1970s. Drop-Shotting has been revived in the last 5 years by Japanese anglers, who started using this technique to catch the bass in their clear, highly pressured lakes, but saltwater anglers, and pan fisherman have been using this technique for many years to catch finicky fish suspended off the bottom.
Wade Fishing With Woo
By Woo Daves
Wade fishing is fun and productive for the hot days of summer. No matter where you live, there are wade fishing streams and creeks that offer shade from the hot sun, usually cool water, and abundant species of fish. Drive backcountry roads in your area, pausing at low water crossings and bridges to ponder the possibilities.
Shade Fishing
By Scott Suggs
Most people think that catching big bass in the summer is more difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. Much like anything else that has to spend all day outside during the hottest part of the year, bass will look for a shady place to hang out. Finding these places is the first step towards catching more than a sunburn during the summer.
CastAway Rods Featured Listener Tip
Topwater Tube
I don’t tell many people about this one because it’s a for-sure bass catcher.
Take a Gitzit 7″ Tube and put a cork bobber in it, with a Tru Turn 5/0 hook. This makes for a deadly topwater bait.
