Skeeter Products, Inc, manufacturer of Skeeter brand boats, welcomed members from the Army Bass Anglers fishing team to its production facility in Kilgore, Texas, offering the group a tour of the facility and a chance to meet all of the folks behind the Skeeter name.
Eight of the team members spent a day at the Skeeter plant, meeting with the Skeeter leadership and discussing the two organization’s partnership, and how best to mutually build awareness and interest.
Army Bass Anglers consists of eight pro staff anglers, and three reserves, all of which are active duty soldiers in the U.S. Army. “We fish in the toughest team tournaments by design, because the “buddy system” is something that has been instilled in all of us during combat,” says team member Cody Roberson, currently on deployment in Iraq. The group of anglers is currently fishing the Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail and Bass Champs.
While Army Bass Anglers was only formed two years ago, the organization has made a tremendous impact on the two charities it supports, including Returning Heroes Home and Fishing for Freedom. Roberson added that it is a natural fit for the Army Bass Anglers team to support two charities that make significant contributions to fellow soldiers, and assist those returning from battle.
“Army Bass Anglers is a great concept, and one that Skeeter is proud to support,” says Jeff Stone, Senior Vice President/General Manager of Skeeter Products, Inc. “We salute all of the service members who support and defend the liberties that we, as Americans, enjoy on a daily basis,” Stone continued.
The group also took a tour of Skeeter’s production process. “Skeeter boats are built like no other and the team saw just what “building a boat from the outside in” looks like,” says Army Bass Angler Chad Nelson. “Our entire team was in awe walking through the factory, and we witnessed how hard the crew works and just how each one plays a vital role in building the boats. We could see it in all of their faces; they were proud to be showing fisherman just what goes into building a Skeeter,” says Nelson.
At the end of the day, the Army Bass Anglers walked through the team’s four new ZX225 bass boats, making a thorough inspection of each, and asking questions of the Skeeter personnel present. “We know our relationship with Skeeter is a huge blessing, and we are looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead,” says Nelson.
