WBT News, then Jordon and Kriet Face Off
October 23, 2007 by admin · 5 Comments
Last week, B.A.S.S. announced that the 2008 Women’s Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year will qualify to fish the 2009 Bassmaster Classic. The announcement has brought cheers and jeers from various factors of the bass-fishing world. So WBT Director Bruce Mathis is here to talk about the decision to send a WBT competitor to the Classic, answer the critics, and look ahead to the next steps in the WBT’s development.
Then Kelly Jordon and Jeff Kriet get an early start on the Pioneer Beef Jerky Texas - Oklahoma Shootout. This three-day event pits eight anglers from Texas against eight anglers from Oklahoma (ostensibly) in three distinct fishing fo
rmats. In this, the third year of the event, Jordon is confident that his Texas team will capture their third consecutive victory. But Kriet is just as certain that this is Oklahoma’s year. Listen in as these two trade barbs and make predictions for this unique event.

Finally, the ABA and USO need boaters in the area of Shreveport, LA to take U.S. Air Force personnel fishing on the Red River. The event takes place on October 28. You can read all the details HERE or contact Kyle Hamaoka at 318.453.0970 for more information.
Jo Dee Lake and Lee Bailey Jr.
Jo Dee Lake’s fifth place finish on the Red River has all the makings of an epic tale. She traveled to uncharted territory, braved big scary spiders, endured a broken digit, and narrowly escaped a boating catastrophe to prevail and finish in the top five in the final WBT event for 2007.
She’s here to tell her tale and share the lessons she learned in patience, perseverance, confidence and the value of playing hunches. Follow the ongoing saga of Jo Dee’s angling career at LadyFisher.com
Then we’ll talk with Lee Bailey, Jr from the Bassmaster Elite series. Lee is a long-time competitor in the top levels of professional bass fishing and a well-known and well-liked personality among those who follow the sport. But what you may not know about Lee is that he has combined his experience as an angler with his expertise as a designer to offer a variety of promotional products and services for anglers. Lee designs boat and truck wraps, tournament jerseys, and websites.
Lee’s here to tell us about the importance of branding yourself and then presenting a polished, professional image to your fans and sponsors. Find out more at ProAnglers.com and visit Lee’s personal website at LeeBaileyJr.com

Sammie Jo Denyes and Keith Phillips
The final event of the 2007 WBT schedule is the first event of the year for professional angler Sammie Jo Denyes. She’ll fish the Red River tournament out of a Nitro bass boat that has a patriotic wrap that seems like a shoe-in for the Coolest Rig Running award. The story of the wrap, Sammie Jo’s decision to sit out most of the 2007 season, and her plans for the 2008 WBT are worth a listen.
Then we catch up with Keith Phillips from the Bassmaster Elite series. The Elite season may be over, but Keith is busier than ever preparing to fish for the U.S. in the Eurobass Tournament coming up in Spain. When he gets back from Europe, he’ll have just enough time to gear up for the Bassmaster Wild Card Qualifier on Lake Okochobee, where he’ll need to turn in a top-10 finish to get his Elite tour card for the 2008 season. But even with this busy schedule, Keith had time to stop by and share some tips on swimming a jig to capitalize on the coming fall bite.
