Scott SuggsScott Suggs won the Forrest Wood Cup (FLW Championship) on Lake Ouachita and went down in history as the first angler to win $1,000,000 in a single bass-fishing tournament. Suggs used home-lake advantage and a unique technique to target suspended bass over deep water. In the end, he overcame a tough bite and a two-fish final day to win the cup. He’s here to tell us how he found the bass, how he caught them and how he’s going to spend at least part of that million bucks. Read all the coverage of the Forrest Wood Cup at FLWOutdoors.com. And be sure to support Tru-Tungsten for helping me get in touch with Scott.

Another Forrest Wood Cup success story comes from BassFeed Pro-Staffer Karyn Sanchez. Karyn just finished 9th among the co-anglers. Karyn will share the techniques that put her in the top 10 and then she’ll look ahead to next year. Keep up with Karyn at KarynSanchez.com.

Bill Siemantel

Bill Siemantel didn’t write the book on bass fishing — he re-wrote it. Siemantel, along with co-author Michael Jones penned what many consider to be the definitive work on big bass fishing, titled Big Bass Zone: Catch Monster Bass. And now Bill has just released a DVD that goes one step beyond the book. In Bill Siemental Signature Series Swimbait Techniques, Bill demonstrates many of the key techniques that he was only able to tell you about in the book.

So forget what you think you know about bass fishing and listen to what Bill has to say about big swimbaits, defying conventional wisdom, the pure fun of fishing.

Then Jay Yelas, recently crowned 2007 FLW Tour Angler of the Year, checks in from Lake Ouachita, where he is practicing for the FLW Championship. Jay talks about the competition, consistency, and strategy that earned him another AOY title. He also looks ahead to some tough fishing in pursuit of this year’s championship.

Longshank SpinnerbaitLongshank Spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits are named for their extra-long hook that eliminates the need for a trailer hook. But there’s much more to these unique lures than just their length. An innovative, rear-weighted head and a durable, intricate skirt make these some of the most fishable spinners and buzzers on the market. Longshank Pro Staffer Gil Johnson explains the history and innovation behind these long lures.

FlickShakeThen we check out the latest import from Japan, called the FlickShake. Jackall Lures introduced this technique, along with their specialized worm (pictured) and “wacky jighead” that make this finesse presentation really come alive. Curt Arakawa fills us in on the details of what promises to be the next big finesse technique and shares a bit of Jackall Lure’s impressive history in tackle design.
