The Million Dollar Fish

June 2, 2008 by admin

The Early Times Kentucky Whisky “Reel In a Million” sweepstakes winner, Jeff Abbott, a native of Winter Springs, Florida, spent all day Saturday, May 31 with Bassmaster Elite Series angler and Early Times Fishing Pro Kevin Wirth. They were fishing in Nashville, Tennessee on J. Percy Priest Lake for a $1 million tagged bass. The $1 million tagged bass was just one of the 25 prizes Abbott could win by catching a tagged bass. All of the tagged bass were released at random locations on the lake earlier in the week.

The novice fresh water angler received tips from Wirth on casting, setting the hook, and landing a bass before venturing out to fish. After 8 hours, Abbott and Wirth returned to the dock without a tagged bass, but with a fish of a lifetime. Abbott had caught the largest bass of his life, a 5 ½ pound largemouth that hit his smoke colored tube.

When asked if he was disappointed about not catching the $1 million tagged bass Abbott said, “No way, I got to spend the day out on the lake being guided by Kevin, a professional angler, in hopes of landing a million dollar bass; I even caught the biggest bass of my life.” For more details on the event see www.teamearlytimes.com.
